What is Network Upload Method?

A method provided by the Microsoft to convert PST data to o365 making the work easier for Office 365 users. This process requires the following:

 

  • PST File sharing permission
  • Assigning of Import/Export Role
  • Azure Tool
  • SAS URL

The first two points are very crucial which you need to do before starting the manual process in order to export Outlook PST mailbox to Exchange Online.

 

The steps to export PST to Office 365:

 

  • In Office 365 go to Security and Compliance centre--> Data Governance-->Import.
  • A new screen will open, click on +New Import job. To create the import job write the job name-->Next.
  • Choose the option Upload your data and click Next. Again a new window will open.
  • Now here, you need to click on "Download Azure Tool", if it's already downloaded then not required.
  • Copy the SAS URL, the important link that should be used to the Azure Tool to upload from PST to Office 365.
  • Run the command in the given format. This allows to migrate the PST file to Azure Storage area.

 

AzCopy.exe /Source: network path /Dest: ”SAS URL” /V: give a location where you want to save log file AzCopy.log /Y

 

  • To map the PST file, create and browse the CSV file with parameters Workload, File path, Mailbox, IsArchive. Also you need to write the Target Root Folder and Content code page but should be left blank under those.
  • Then hit on +Select mapping file--> Validate-->Save.
  • In import page, click on Ready to import to Office 365 and filter the PST data.
